Susan Chartrand is a generous, reliable, cheerful, very inspirational, modest, discreet, lady with a low profile. With Susan's quiet demeanor, she always has a smile and a hello when you meet her. Often in the background, she supports and volunteers many of the local organizations, including other VWIB members.
Susan has willingly and consistently stepped up to handle various situations and positions with VWIB over the many years that she has been a member. Watching our organization grow from the initial stages to the room, full of powerhouse business women, here today and certainly will remember our dear friend Jan White, who was so instrumental in the continuing growth of VWIB.
With her husband and children, she moved to Vernon about 22 yrs ago and soon after joined our organization. In the community, she has spent approximately 10 years volunteering with the Vernon & District Child to Child Literacy Association. She encouraged the building of the Teen Junction and has been instrumental in a charity assisting Pakistani children to attend school. She has volunteered with Hospice, served on the board of the Kalamalka Country Club for many years using her business expertise.
Being very athletic, Sovereign Lakes has had the pleasure of Susan volunteering at races. Susan was recently recognized as Skier of the Year for her participation in a series of 30 k races.
She has played on many of the local soccer fields including orienteering, hiking, biking, and walking has been her pleasure.
Always on the School Parent Advisory Board from K-12 , known to have hosted and shared her home with out of town students and families while her two sons were growing up. Susan has been on the executive in the past as a treasurer and continues to this day helping on the Treasurer committee with processing payments at the meetings.
Now, this is just a glimpse of this special woman’s life, an ‘unsung hero’.
Please give a warm round of applause to our ‘2009 Jan White Award’ winner, a good trusting friend and business associate, the one and only, Susan Chartrand."
